Gino Banks Biography

Gino Banks is a highly acclaimed drummer and percussionist renowned for his versatility, technical prowess, and innate musicality.  Born into a family of legendary musicians, he is the son of Louiz Banks, India 's legendary jazz pianist and composer. He toured Australia and China with his fathers' indo-jazz fusion band SANGAM playing percussion when he was just 9 years old.   Gino has established himself as one of world’s foremost drummers, garnering widespread recognition for his contributions to the music industry. Some eminent artists he has worked with are of course his father Louiz Banks , Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Vid. Vikku Vinayakram, Vid. R.A. Ramamani, Selva Ganesh, Rakesh Chaurasia, Niladri Kumar, Sanjat  as well as Bollywood composers Ilaiyaraaja, AR Rahman, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Salim Sulaiman, Vishal Shekhar, Pritam, Amit Trivedi, Adnan Sami to name a few. He has also performed with international artists like Mike Stern, Guthrie Govan, Dave Holland, Chris Potter, George Brooks, Jan Rivera and many more. Gino performs extensively with his trio group MaMoGi alongside Mohini Dey and Mark Hartsuch as well as a duo project with Rhythm Shaw.  A highly sort after collaborator, he is also a producer, arranger and runs his own drum recording studio - Double Shift Productions  Gino is featured on the Miles From India Album produced by Bob Belden, nominated for a 2009 Grammy in the Contemporary Jazz Category with Times Square Records, NYC; a fusion of Great Indian Classical Musicians and Miles Davis Alumni Musicians. A big advocate of music education - Gino has his own music education platform with Algorhythm Drums as well as being an advisor with the PG Garodia Conservatoire, Furtados School Of Music and the NMIMS School Of Performing Arts, He is a Faculty Head at the Artium Academy.
