Matt Carrilho Biography

Matt Carrilho is a Brazilian drummer who acts as sideman, teacher, and
digital content creator. He studied for five years at the renewed drum school
IP&T, which is run by Giba Favery, and then he went to Santa Marcelina
College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in popular drums. During
his college years, Matt had Edu Ribeiro as a drum teacher, one of the
greatest names in Brazilian Jazz, who helped him with this new vocabulary.
Currently, Matt plays in the Melodic Death Metal band Kryour, in a Dream
Theater Tribute, and also is an online and in-person private teacher. Besides
that, Matt keeps a strong presence on social media as an influencer,
recording daily content about music and drums.
The Melodic Death Metal band Kryour, is Matt’s most consolidated musical project.
Blending traditional metal with a modern touch, heavy riffs with electronic parts,
Kryour is constantly growing.
Kryour has a solid fanbase thanks to its on-line presence, and as a consequence, the band
has been playing in crowded venues across Brazil’s most important cities, in addition
to some others huge concerts as an opening act for bands like In Flames and
Symphony X. In 2024 Kryour played at important festivals in Brazil, such as Summer
Breeze Brazil and Knotfest Brazil.
